Unselfish giving could be real.
When you first learn about higher ethics and the philosophy involved you might be disappointed. Altruistic type people are givers and are supposed to support the benefit of the whole of society. If you've read anything about altruism there is a great deal of scepticism towards the concept of people who help others without expectations.
There are some local charities and more global movements that are doing what they think is right. Others participating with the giving have their motives, but what are they? Are they trying to get a reaction of the public, or are their cares less egocentric. If there ever was a time to discover if an individual can be more the a needy one it's now.
Disappointment might arise from learning that the general view of true altruism is that it doesn't exist.Skepticism may be driven by a subjective urge to check the value of an ideas realism, and that may work sometimes, but the science points to something different.
I would like to think that altruism is a desire without a selfish end. At least some of the time there could be an act of giving with only the giving in mind. Even if there were 100 times that I gave, I would feel better if 1 of those times I didn't feel good. I know, that last sentence doesn't make sense.
